The subclass 888 is the permanent residence pathway for 188 visa holders who have met their provisional visa requirements.

888 Streams

888A - Business Innovation

Requirements:

• Held 188A for minimum 3 years
• Owned business in Australia for 2 years
• Business turnover: AUD $300K+
• Employment: 2 full-time Australians
• Net assets or turnover threshold

888B - Investor

Requirements:

• Held 188B for 4 years
• Maintained designated investment
• Lived in Australia 2 of 4 years
• Genuine commitment to Australia

888C - Significant Investor

Requirements:

• Held 188C for 4 years
• Maintained $5M complying investment
• Resided in Australia 160 days over 4 years
• Genuine commitment

Business Requirements (888A)

Ownership

• At least 51% if turnover under $400K
• At least 30% if turnover $400K+
• At least 10% if publicly listed

Assets or Turnover

Choose one:

• Business assets: AUD $200K+
• Personal assets: AUD $600K+
• Annual turnover: AUD $300K+

Employment

• 2 full-time equivalent employees
• Australian citizens or PRs
• Not family members

Residency Requirements

888A & 888B

• 2 years in Australia during 4-year visa

888C

• 40 days per year (160 days over 4 years)

Processing

• Apply before 188 expires
• Processing: 12-24 months
• Priority processing available for some streams
