Canada Study Permit Process — 6 Steps

SDS (Student Direct Stream) processing for Indian students: 4–6 weeks. Non-SDS: 8–12 weeks.

    Shortlist DLI-listed institutions, submit applications with SOP, LORs, transcripts and IELTS/PTE scores.

    Letter of Acceptance (LOA)

    Receive your conditional or unconditional LOA from a Designated Learning Institution (DLI).

    GIC + Tuition Deposit

    Pay one year of tuition + purchase GIC of CAD 20,635 (from Scotiabank, ICICI, RBC, SBI, etc.).

    Study Permit Application

    Apply online via IRCC portal under SDS (Student Direct Stream) or non-SDS. Pay CAD 150 fee + biometrics CAD 85.

  5. 5

    Biometrics & Medical

    Visit VFS Global for biometrics and panel physician for upfront medical examination.

  6. 6

    Decision & Departure

    SDS decisions within 4–6 weeks. Receive Port of Entry (POE) Letter — your Study Permit is stamped on arrival in Canada.
